Bollywood & Politics

Bollywood should stay out of politics and make meaningful movies. Not one movie makes you sit up and think. Unlike the West, even animated characters have such depth of character :). Caught parts of the movie Cars and it made me think about so many things. About life. And it was entertaining too. Hindi movies in general leave a lot to be desired. Even when the topic is great, the script is piss poor un-inspiring. Now with political war fare becoming a new channel for film promotion and branding, it takes away from the main thrust of the movie. Seemingly an opportunity to be spoken off, which is what marketeers aim to do, to create the buzz by association, can also make audiences switch off. One may go for the movie since there isn't nothing much to do in this country in the name of entertainment - food, sex or watch a movie, even a bad one at that - do time pass, but it can slice off the "looking forward to" emotion that one feels for a movie. Even too much of in your face film promotion can turn off audiences. Yes, one needs to market but brand associations are a double edged sword that can slice off box office buzz too. Bottomline is movie makers need to focus on making good cinema. Allow this one space to remain free from political warfare thats becoming so in your face that it's nauseating, and thus one tends to avoid it and everything associated with it. That's an emotion that's not a box office friendly.
