जन्म दिन – 11 अक्टूबर
पहला नाम - इलाहाबाद, उत्तर प्रदेश, में जन्मे अमिताभ बच्चन हिंदू कायस्थ परिवार से संबंध रखते हैं। उनके पिता, डॉ. हरिवंश राय बच्चन प्रसिद्ध हिन्दी कवि थे, जबकि उनकी माँ तेजी बच्चन कराची के सिख परिवार से संबंध रखती थीं।[आरंभ में बच्चन का नाम इंकलाब रखा गया था जो भारतीय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के दौरान प्रयोग में किए गए प्रेरित वाक्यांश इंकलाब जिंदाबाद से लिया गया था। लेकिन बाद में इनका फिर से अमिताभ नाम रख दिया गया जिसका अर्थ है, "ऐसा प्रकाश जो कभी नहीं बुझेगा"। यद्यपि इनका अंतिम नाम श्रीवास्तव था फिर भी इनके पिता ने इस उपनाम को अपने कृतियों को प्रकाशित करने वाले बच्चन नाम से उद्धृत किया।
शिक्षा और नौकरी - बच्चन ने दो बार एम. ए. की उपाधि ग्रहण की है। मास्टर ऑफ आर्ट्स (स्नातकोत्तर) इन्होंने इलाहाबाद के ज्ञान प्रबोधिनी और बॉयज़ हाई स्कूल (बीएचएस) तथा उसके बाद नैनीताल के शेरवुड कॉलेज में पढ़ाई की जहाँ कला संकाय में प्रवेश दिलाया गया। अमिताभ बाद में अध्ययन करने के लिए दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के किरोड़ीमल कॉलेज चले गए जहां इन्होंने विज्ञान स्नातक की उपाधि प्राप्त की। अपनी आयु के २० के दशक में बच्चन ने अभियन में अपना कैरियर आजमाने के लिए कोलकता की एक शिपिंग फर्म बर्ड एंड कंपनी की नौकरी छोड़ दी।
शादी - ३ जून, १९७३ को इन्होंने बंगाली संस्कार के अनुसार अभिनेत्री जया भादुड़ी से विवाह कर लिया। इस दंपती को दो बच्चों: बेटी श्वेता और पुत्र अभिषेक पैदा हुए।
पहली फिल्म और पुरस्कार - बच्चन ने फिल्मों में अपने कैरियर की शुरूआत ख्वाज़ा अहमद अब्बास के निर्देशन में बनी सात हिंदुस्तानी के सात कलाकारों में एक कलाकार के रूप में की, उत्पल दत्त, मधु और जलाल आगा जैसे कलाकारों के साथ अभिनय कर के। फ़िल्म ने वित्तीय सफ़लता प्राप्त नहीं की पर बच्चन ने अपनी पहली फ़िल्म के लिए राष्ट्रीय फ़िल्म पुरस्कार में सर्वश्रेष्ठ नवागंतुक का पुरूस्कार जीता।
एंग्री यंगमैन - 1973 में जब प्रकाश मेहरा ने इन्हें अपनी फिल्म जंजीर में इंस्पेक्टर विजय की भूमिका के रूप में अवसर दिया तो यहीं से इनके कैरियर में प्रगति का नया मोड़ आया। यह फ़िल्म इससे पूर्व के रोमांस भरे सार के प्रति कटाक्ष था जिसने अमिताभ बच्चन को एक नई भूमिका एंग्री यंगमैन में देखा जो बालीवुड के एक्शन हीरो बन गए थे। बॉक्स ऑफिस पर सफलता पाने वाले एक जबरदस्त अभिनेता के रूप में यह उनकी पहली फिल्म थी, जिसने उन्हें सर्वश्रेष्‍ठ पुरूष कलाकार फिल्मफेयर पुरस्कार के लिए मनोनीत करवाया।
शोले - 15 अगस्त, 1975 को रिलीज शोले हुई और भारत में किसी भी समय की सबसे ज्यादा आय अर्जित करने वाली फिल्‍म बन गई है जिसने 2,36,45,00000 रुपए कमाए जो मुद्रास्फीति को समायोजित करने के बाद 60 मिलियन अमरीकी डालर के बराबर हैं। बच्चन ने इंडस्ट्री के कुछ शीर्ष के कलाकारों जैसे धर्मेन्‍द्र, हेमा मालिनी, संजीव कुमार, जया बच्चन और अमजद खान के साथ जय की भूमिका अदा की थी। बॉक्स ऑफिस पर शोले जैसी फिल्मों की जबरदस्त सफलता के बाद बच्चन ने अब तक अपनी स्थिति को मजबूत कर लिया था और 1976 से 1984 तक उन्हें अनेक सर्वश्रेष्ठ कलाकार वाले फ़िल्मफ़ेयर पुरस्कार और अन्य पुरस्कार एवं ख्याति मिली।
हालांकि शोले जैसी फिल्मों ने बालीवुड में उसके लिए पहले से ही महान एक्शन नायक का दर्जा पक्का कर दिया था, फिर भी बच्चन ने कभी कभी, अमर अकबर एन्थनी, चुपके चुपके, कस्में वादे, डॉन, त्रिशूल, मुकद्दर का सिकंदर दीवार, मि० नटवरलाल, काला पत्थर, दोस्ताना, सिलसिला, राम बलराम, शान, लावारिस, शक्ति जैसी फिल्में की।
फिल्म कुली और चोट - 1982 में कुली फिल्म में बच्चन ने अपने सह कलाकार पुनीत इस्सर के साथ एक फाइट की शूटिंग के दौरान अपनी आंतों को लगभग घायल कर लिया था। बच्चन ने इस फिल्म में स्टंट अपनी मर्जी से करने की छूट ले ली थी जिसके एक सीन में इन्हें मेज पर गिरना था और उसके बाद जमीन पर गिरना था। हालांकि जैसे ही ये मेज की ओर कूदे तब मेज का कोना इनके पेट से टकराया जिससे इनके आंतों को चोट पहुंची और इनके शरीर से काफी खून बह निकला था। कई महीनों तक अस्पताल में भर्ती रहे और कई बार मौत के मुंह में जाते जाते बचे। यह फिल्म 1983 में रिलीज हुई और आंशिक तौर पर बच्चन की दुर्घटना के असीम प्रचार के कारण बॉक्स ऑफिस पर सफल रही।
राजनीति - अपने पुराने मित्र राजीव गांधी के सपोर्ट से 1984 में अमिताभ ने अभिनय से कुछ समय के लिए विश्राम ले लिया और राजनीति में कूद पड़े। उन्होंने इलाहाबाद लोक सभा सीट से उत्तरप्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री एच.एन. बहुगुणा को चुनाव में हराया था। हालांकि इनका राजनैतिक कैरियर कुछ अवधि के लिए ही था, जिसके 3 साल बाद इन्होंने अपनी राजनैतिक अवधि को पूरा किए बिना त्याग दिया।
राजनीति के बाद फिल्मों में वापसी - 1988 में तीन साल की राजनैतिक यात्रा के बाद अमिताभ वापस लौट आए और फिल्म शहंशाह में शीर्षक भूमिका की, जो बच्चन की वापसी के चलते बॉक्स आफिस पर हिट रही। इसके बाद हम, अग्निपथ, खुदागवाह, बड़े मियाँ छोटे मियाँ, सूर्यावंशम, लाल बादशाह, हिंदुस्तान की कसम जैसी फिल्में आई।
सुपरहिट टेलीविजन शो - कौन बनेगा करोड़पति इस कार्यक्रम से गहरी सफलता मिली। यह माना जाता है कि बच्चन ने इस कार्यक्रम के संचालन के लिए साप्ताहिक प्रकरण के लिए अत्यधिक 25 लाख रुपए लिए थे, जिसके कारण बच्चन और उनके परिवार को नैतिक और आर्थिक दोनों रूप से बल मिला। इससे पहले एबीसीएल के बुरी तरह असफल हो जाने से अमिताभ को गहरे झटके लगे थे। नवंबर 2000 में केनरा बैंक ने भी इनके खिलाफ अपने मुकदमे को वापस ले लिया। बच्चन ने केबीसी का आयोजन नवंबर २००५ तक किया और इसकी सफलता ने फिल्म की लोकप्रियता के प्रति इनके द्वार फिर से खोल दिए।

I play dual roles of Deshraj, Darsheel’s heartless maternal uncle who abandons him and Magic, the village scientist who creates Zokkomon. I was initially approached to play the bad uncle and surprised everyone by suggesting that I play magic too. The immediate reaction was that’s impossible because they are two diametrically different characters with no common link.

What was so different in this film?
This is the first time I have played the protagonist and the antagonist. When I was first narrated the role, I told Disney I wanted to do the second role as well! They were at first surprised and then thanked me for giving them the idea because both roles have come out fantastic!

How was the look of both your characters designed?
It’s one of the most unique challenges I have undertaken in my career. The makers of Zokkomon hired prosthetics expert Guillaume Castange from France who spent months remodelling the character's face -- first on computer and then with specially designed prosthetic pieces. With the help of two French make-up artists and five hours of daily prosthesis, Deshraj and Magic looked and behaved unlike each other.

Were people able to recognize it is you on sets?
No not at all!! Even on sets my name on call sets would be something different! In fact when I showed my parents the film, even they were not able to recognize the second character is me! I also dressed up as my character Deshraj and went to meet my wife Kirron on sets of India’s Got Talent, and she was shocked as well!

We heard you are going to IFFLA?

मंच के चर्चित कलाकार सुजीत श्रीवास्तव को भी फिल्मों में आने का पासपोर्ट मिल गया है। बस शूटिंग की तिथि तय होते ही वीजा भी बन जाएगा। और यह सब कर रहे हैं निर्माता-निर्देशक विजय नारायण चौहान अपनी फिल्म सजनी पुकारे गंगा किनारे के लिए। माधवी मूवीज के बैनर तले बन रही इस फिल्म में सुजीत श्रीवास्तव की सजनी बन रही हैं कल्पना शाह। इसी गर्मी की छुट्टियों में उत्तर प्रदेश के विभिन्न लोकेशनों पर फिल्म की शूटिंग प्रारंभ होगी। मंच पर नाटक के साथ म्युजिकल प्रोग्राम करते-करते सुजीत ने अपना एक दर्शक वर्ग बना रखा है। एक बार इनके प्रोग्राम में आऊटडोर की शूटिंग से फुर्सत पाये दिनेशलाल यादव (निरहुआ) पहुंच गये। दिनेश न सिर्फ प्रभावित हुए बल्कि वैसे नृत्य करने के लिए मचल गए, ललचने लगे और उन्होंने आगे अपनी किसी फिल्म में सुजीत को साथ लेने का वचन भी दे दिया। अब ये फिल्मी वचन भले न पूरा हो मगर सुजीत श्रीवास्तव सोलो हीरो बन गए। उनकी सजनी गंगा किनारे खड़ी है और पुकार रही है! बधाई सुजीत!

भोजपुरी सिनेमा के परफेक्ट एक्शन स्टार सुदीप पांडे अतिशीघ्र सिक्सर मारने वाले हैं। नहीं, हम आईपीएल के क्रिकेट टूर्नामेंट में उनके शामिल होने की बात नहीं कर रहे हैं। वह तो अपनी प्रदर्शित होने वाली फिल्मों का सिक्सर मारेंगे। एक दर्जन फिल्में कर चुके इस भोजपुरिया भईया की अभी आधी दर्जन फिल्में कतारबद्ध हैं। अपनी दूसरी ही फिल्म भोजपुरिया दरोगा में चुनौतीपूर्ण दोहरी भूमिका करके सुदीप पांडे ने न सिर्फ एक परिपक्व कलाकार होने का परिचय दिया, वरन परफेक्ट एक्शन स्टार का खिताब भी पा लिया। सचमुच, सुदीप जब एक्शन करते हैं, तो देखते ही बनता है। वह निर्विवाद भोजपुरी फिल्मों के अक्षय कुमार हैं। भोजपुरिया दरोगा में शीर्षक भूमिका के अतिरिक्त सुदीप ने एक मानसिक अद्र्धविक्षिप्त युवक की भी यादगार भूमिका निभायी थी। इस फिल्म ने ही सुदीप को स्टार बना दिया। फिर तो मसीहा बाबू, सौतन, दरोगाजी चोरी हो गईल, चंदू की चमेली, हम हईं धरमयोद्धा, शराबी और नथुनिया पे गोली मारे सरीखी कई फिल्में कर डालीं।
अभी सुदीप पांडे की आधी दर्जन जो फिल्में आने वाली हैं, उनमें मि. तांगेवाला सबसे पहले प्रदर्शित होगी। भोजपुरिया दरोगा की तरह इस फिल्म में भी सुदीप दोहरी भूमिका में हैं। एक सीधा सादा किसान है, तो दूसरा चलता-पुर्जा चोर। वैसे, दोहरी क्या मसीहा बाबू में सुदीप पांडे तिहरी भूमिका भी निभा चुके हैं। लेकिन ऐसा नहीं है कि इस एक्शन किंग की सारी फिल्में दे दना दन ही हैं। कुर्बानी में वह एक ऐसे मुस्लिम युवक के रूप में दिखाई देंगे, जो अपनी मालकिन के लिए अपना सबकुछ कुर्बान कर देता है। एक प्रेमी के रूप में सुदीप का एक नया चेहरा आप देखेेंगे। लेकिन प्यार की इस संजीदगी से घबराने की जरूरत नहीं। भौजी के गांव पहुंचकर यह गया (बिहार) का बांका जवान वह धूमे-धड़ाका करता है कि बस देखते ही बनता है। फिर भी एक्शन किंग तो एक्शन किंग होता है, लाल चिंगारी में पुन: सुदीप अपनी रौ में बहते नजर आएंगे। नक्सल-समस्या पर आधारित इस फिल्म में सुदीप पांडे का तेवर बिल्कुल तूफानी है। जरूरत पडऩे पर वह बगावत में बगावत करने पर भी उतारू हो जाते हैं। तीन तेलुगू और एक नेपाली फिल्म कर चुके इस वर्सेटाइल एक्टर की मेहनत अब रंग लायी है और वह दर्शकों के चहेते कलाकार बन चुके हैं। सुदीप की लोकप्रियता का स्पष्ट प्रमाण उनके कार्यक्रम बिहार : एक खोज की बढ़ती टीआरपी है। इस कार्यक्रम के सूत्रधार (एंकर) सुदीप ही हैं और उनके चलते ही यह प्रोग्राम महुआ का सर्वप्रिय शो बन चुका है। कैलिफोर्निया में सॉफ्टवेयर इंजीनियर के रूप में कार्यरत सुदीप पांडे जब फिल्मों की दुनिया में आए तो सब यही सोचते थे कि पश्चिमी आबोहवा में रहनेवाले इस साहब को हमारी मिट्टी की सोंधी गंध कहां याद होगी। पर सुदीप ने सबको छका दिया। रामजी फिल्म्स के बैनर तले उसने आधी दर्जन फिल्में बनाकर सफलता पूर्वक प्रदर्शित भी कर डाला। सुदीप ने साबित कर दिया, वह एक समर्पित कलाधर्मी हैं। एक सच्चे भोजपुरिया भइया।

‘Sheila’ and ‘Munni’ are passé now! It’s time to make way for the super sizzling and racy dance number ‘Shake it Saiyaan’ from Rupali Aum Entertainment and Sanjay Dutt Production’s ‘Rascals’ directed by David Dhawan.

The song stars the smoking hot Lisa Haydon showcasing some alluring moves using accessories like leather chains and whips to get things cracking. Sanjay Dutt will be seen shaking a leg with the sexy siren in a stylish and classy avatar.

Choreographer Bosco feels, “Right from the 50s, when Helen and Cuckoo danced, until now, item songs get the audiences’ pulse racing!”

The song is being shot extravagantly on a huge set with 6 different areas, each portraying a different look and feel and complete with foreign dancers and different costumes, designed by Aki Narula. The song has been composed by talented duo Vishal-Shekhar and promises to be big on the music charts!

Guess everyone should put on their dancing shoes and get ready to shake their booties on this hip and happening number! ‘Rascals’ is slated for release in mid 2011.

Shaan & Sunidhi Chauhan to voice for 3D animation film ‘RIO’!

Singing superstars Shaan & Sunidhi Chauhan will be voicing for the lead characters ‘Blu’ & ‘Jewel’ respectively in Fox Star Studios’ forthcoming 3D animation film ‘RIO’.

Not only that, the duo will also be lending their melodious voice for some of the Hindi songs of the film’s soundtrack, as music is an important aspect of this comedy adventure!

Apparently Shaan, a huge fan of animation films was highly impressed when he saw the film’s rushes and immediately loved the idea of lending his voice for the lead character. The singer says, “Associating with RIO was a very unique & exciting opportunity that I couldn’t refuse. The film is super fun and will be enjoyed by people of all ages. I had a great time dubbing and singing for the film.”

Sunidhi too, is quite excited about her association with Rio and qipps; “I wanted to do an animation film for years. Rio is such an amazing film that I just had to do it. Even though my character is a bird, Rio is a beautiful love story!”

Fox has also recently already roped in comical duo Ranvir Shorey and Vinay Pathak to do the Hindi voice overs for Nico & Pedro (Blu’s friends) respectively.

Jesse Eisenberg, who rose to fame after his portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg in ‘The Social Network’ will be voicing ‘Blu’ in the original version of the film; whereas Anne Hathaway lends her voice for ‘Jewel’.

Filled with splendid visual effects, ‘RIO’ is being touted as the next big animated movie series after Ice Age. Set in the magnificent city of Rio de Janeiro and the lush rainforest of Brazil, ‘RIO’ is a comedy-adventure which centers on BLU, a rare macaw who thinks he is the last of his kind. Darsheel Safary sure has reasons to rejoice!

The child star celebrated his 15th birthday today (9th March) in Sri Lanka where he is vacationing with his family due to the mid-term break from school. Darsheel will be spending the day sight-seeing, bonding and playing with baby elephants, visiting Gautam Buddha shrines, etc

We also hear that the child star will be getting a brand new laptop as his birthday gift! To add to his joy, the promos of his next film with Walt Disney called ‘Zokkomon’ will be coming out this week. Darsheel essays the lead character in the film along with veteran actor Anupam Kher and Manjari Fadnis (of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na fame).

Directed by Satayjit Bhatkal, Zokkomon is an action adventure film about an ordinary boy who rises to meet extraordinary challenges. The film is slated for release on April 22nd.

‘RIO’ takes over Youtube!

Hollywood biggie Twentieth Century Fox has taken over popular website ‘youtube’ today to promote their latest 3D extravaganza – RIO.

As a unique promotional stunt, the youtube website on March 8th will begin with 10-15 secs of RIO’s film footage and then resolve to the landing page frame. Once a visitor clicks on the ad, it would expand to reveal a large colourful panel where users can choose from a menu of interesting Rio “actions” each which would serve up a large Rio video!

Spanning across 4 continents & around 18 countries including India, this exciting campaign will reach out to over 100 million people & enable them to experience the fun world of RIO.

‘RIO’ is a 3D Animation film directed by Carlos Saldanha (Ice Age: the Meltdown & Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs). ‘Character Dheela’, is what superstar Salman Khan is describing his character through a song in his upcoming film ‘Ready’.

Replete with amusing lyrics and Salman’s patent dance moves, the song was shot in Bangkok with 100 dancers especially flown down from Mumbai.

Moreover, two separate choreographers - Raju Khan and Mudassar Khan worked together on the song with Salman to create a total Dhamaal number!

The producers Bhushan Kumar and Rajat Rawail are ecstatic at the way the song has shaped up and are confident that this song will be one of the biggest hits this year!
